While many celebrities went to the United States for the holidays, rumored couple Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil spent Christmas together in London.

Liza and Enrique starred in the top-rating ABS-CBN series “Dolce Amore,” some scenes of which were shot in Italy. They first starred together and became popular in the network's hit series “Forevermore” which was shot in the Cordilleras.

Liza, a Filipino American, from the San Francisco Bay Area, said it was her first time to celebrate the occasion away from her parents, the couple's home studio ABS-CBN reported.

Liza admitted that her brother Justin and some of Enrique’s immediate family members joined them in the trip.

“It may not be the traditional way of celebrating but nonetheless it is meaningful. There were many first for us and I’m happy I get to spend it with people I love dearly," Liza wrote on Instagram.

"Sadly my dad, stepmom and new baby sister weren’t with us for Christmas because my dad was denied a UK visa, but they are enjoying in Paris,” Liza added.

ABS-CBN reported that Liza went on to impart to her followers what for her is the true meaning of Christmas.

“Happy birthday Jesus. Thank you Papa God for sacrificing your only begotten son for the lives of many, let us not take that for granted. Merry Christmas again everyone and Enjoy,” she said.

Liza and Enrique are among several celebrities who are spending Christmas abroad such Bea Alonzo and Gerald Anderson, Bela Padilla, Kim Chiu, Aga Muhlach and his wife, Lea Salonga and others.

After their London break, Liza and Enrique will gear up for the upcoming ABS-CBN fantasy series “Bagani.”

Liza, on the other hand, will also headline the movie adaptation of “Darna.”

It was reported earlier that Enrique has been tapped as Liza’s leading man for the 2017 Darna version.

Many thought that the management might have chosen someone from its pool of boy-next-door male stars such as Ronnie Alonte and Joshua Garcia. After all, ABS-CBN is good at producing unlikely pairings from its rigodon de honor system, wrote columnist Ricky Lo.
